Overview
In 2022, I designed the Baron Barclay Bridge Supply annual catalog, continuing a collaboration established in previous years with the 2021, 2020, and 2019 editions, along with special holiday gift guide catalogs in 2020 and 2019. Baron Barclay is the world's leading retailer of books and supplies for bridge, a card game beloved by millions globally. The annual catalog is a vital sales tool, reaching an extensive, loyal customer base.
Design Goals
Modernize the layout while retaining ease of navigation and readability.
Highlight featured products with clear visual hierarchy.
Enhance user engagement through strategic placement of QR codes linking directly to product pages.
Reflect the company's commitment to quality and community within the bridge-playing world.
Approach + Execution
The 2022 catalog incorporated clean, structured layouts balanced by visually appealing imagery and color schemes aligned with Baron Barclay’s branding. Categories such as Specialty Items, Duplicate Supplies, and Learning & Teaching were organized clearly to enhance user-friendliness.
To bridge the gap between physical and digital shopping experiences, QR codes were strategically placed, allowing customers seamless online access for product details and purchasing.
Results
The refreshed design elevated the user experience, significantly simplifying the browsing and purchasing process. The inclusion of QR codes drove increased traffic to the Baron Barclay website, improving online engagement and sales conversions. Feedback from the client and their customers highlighted the catalog's improved clarity and ease of use, reinforcing Baron Barclay’s standing as a trusted, quality-focused retailer in the bridge community.
Continuing Impact
This catalog represented the evolution of a successful ongoing design partnership, showcasing my ability to consistently deliver impactful, practical, and visually cohesive print designs year over year. While earlier editions and holiday gift guides didn't warrant individual case studies, their collective progression illustrates steady enhancements in user engagement and aesthetic appeal, solidifying brand consistency and customer loyalty.
